Peggy Brower, Owner -
"Years ago, when I lived in Virginia, I had my
own pool in my backyard. I did a lot of swimming and some exercising
in the pool. I noticed something was happening to my body... inches
were coming off. I wasn't even dieting! Then we moved and I didn't
have a pool to play in anymore. The inches came back. Years later,
we moved to a tropical island where once again, I was able to play
in the water. This time I met a very special friend who introduced
me to and trained me in water aerobics. I instantly loved it. We
moved again this time to the D.C. area. I continued teaching and
decided to start H2O Fitness.
H2O Fitness has grown to include land based
programs to accommodate people who don't love the water as much as I
do. We have classes that can accommodate both groups and individuals
with particular needs.

Peggy Brower is the owner of H2O
Fitness. She is highly respected in the D.C. area in the health and
fitness industry. She has produced an Aqua training video, written a
training manual, and has appeared on public television promoting
water fitness. As well as offering water and land classes, she also
conducts aqua workshops for instructors and water aerobic
certifications in the metropolitan area.
Peggy
is certified with USWFA, AAAI, PACE, The Arthritis Foundation,
Quantrum, and RAB. She is also a continuing education provider
with AEA.
In addition to running the business
and teaching numerous classes a week herself, she finds time to
organize and escort her fitness classes on cruises (she teaches the
classes onboard as well) and planned bus trips. She feels that
exercise is important, but the socialization and camaraderie you
have in a class is just as important.
Company History:
H2O Fitness was started in 1994 and is located in Silver Spring, Md.
In the beginning, it only consisted of Peggy and one other
instructor; who still works for her. At first, the company
only taught water fitness classes. Now H2O Fitness has more
than 30 instructors, who teach everything from water exercise to
pilates. Some types of classes offered are water
exercise and aerobics, Pace, Abs & Glutes, deep water, arthritis,
senior, pilates and resist-a-ball. Classes are offered
throughout the area from clubs to condos all year long. In the
summer, additional instructors are hired to cover all the extra
outdoor water aerobic classes. (Jobs are available!)
If you do not find a class listed close to your home, you are
welcome to contact Peggy.
She can usually find a location for you since she is connected with
the surrounding facilities.
